Another Freaking Scrapping challenge and monochromatic

Over at AFSC the theme this month is monochromatic and your favourite colour.
In the past my 2 favourite colours have always been green and yellow, but as I've grown older my next favourite has become the one I gravitate to....turquoise.

I've created a layout using turquoise.
It started by me whitewashing a sheet of pp featuring roadmaps.
Then I used the negative framework of a chipboard set to mist through and create floral background.
I've added strips of turquoise paper cut as banners, a chenille button with matching twine and crochet doiley from Purple Pumpkin and a vellum flower.
There is a small amount of black for the title and subtitle but otherwise it is all turquoise.
Yes that's me at 19 with Dad.

Mystical retro layout

The latest cybercrop at Mystical Scrapbooking required a layout based on a photo mood board from Pinterest.
http://pinterest.com/neat28/mystical-july-mood-board/

I started by using my Prima dotted stencil with gesso mixed with pale pink paint.
Then I went over it again with a darker pink mix to provide a double dot mix.
The frame is from Graphic 45 and the middle paper is Dear Lizzy.
There are other elements from past counterfeit kits such as the month circle and the library pocket which contains my journaling.
This was my 8th birthday in 1962.So many memories in that photo.

A Mixed media color challenge

When cruising the websites I found via Gayle Price this new Challenge site.

Below is the colour ideas to work from, focussing on yellow, pink and peach.
You must also use a minimum of 2 media techniques.

Here's my efforts

I started by using gesso mixed with pink paint to do the clock faces on the background.
Here's the close up..it is fairly lumpy bumpy.
I then added ink behind where the title goes, in yellow.
There is stamping from Madame Boutique by Kaisercraft and in one instance I've overlayed a fussy cut lady for more depth.
I've also inked the chipboard corner in orange and partial clock in yellow.
Embellishments added are ribbons, washi tape, vintage lace, enamel dots from My Minds Eye and a cut out Graphic 45 butterfly.
My cousin Pat and I were shopping in a soap shop and the shopkeeper told us to "just browse". Hence the title.

DLISH scraps are having a 4th Birthday celebration.
I'm hoping to do the layout but in the meantime,
This pinboard of ideas inspired me to use some Graphic 45 pp that I've been saving for best. I've started by making 2 cards.
The antique lace in the first card is from my grandmothers stash.(She died in 1963,so that's very old lace!)

The second one has a strip from the bottom of MME Nostalgia range papers. I thought they blended nicely.

Annas craft cupboard in the tropics.

Every challenge I looked at today wants navy or darker colours. I needed something to brighten me up.
I found this sketch on Anna's Craft cupboard.  I haven't done their sketches for a while.
I dug into my counterfeit kit and came up with this.
Using a photo of gardens in Vanuatu
  • Down by the shore (Cruise) by Fancy Pants designs
  • An 8x8 paper pad from Big W
  • Doodlebug designs "Take Note" (say what?)
  • Orange cardstock
  • A giant flower by ZVA creative
  • Down by the shore Title piece by Fancy Pants
  •  October Afternoon word sticker and tabs "Farm Girl"
  • Simple stories I heart summer sticker flowers
  • Green chevron washi tape
  • Grace Taylor Adhesive die cut border
  • Punched butterfly and pearls.

I have no idea why the journaling on here doesn't align next to the dots.

Seize the birthday #20

Here's the sketch at Seize the birthday.
I've made a card for my sister's birthday using this people paper. I traced the circle and cut it out using the reverse side facing up. The sentiment I wrote myself in my best school teacher printing and added a cute crochet flower.

CSI and 3rd post for today

You could say I'm on a roll.
When I looked at CSI,the colours just called out to me.It might help that 2 of my favourites were there.
Anyway I delved into my honeymoon photos...1982...was I ever that young???
I've used more Counterfeit kit stuff on this one too.
The fabric background is a calico bag I cut up and managed to use the word on the bag as part of my title...clever eh?
