Colour throwdown #242

The colour throwdown website can be found here. http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com.au/
I quite often do their challenges and loved the combination this week.

and here's my card for a very little boy. The sentiment says "Boys will be boys".

The shabby tea room card

The challenge at The Shabby Tea room this week is to use Pink, lime green, white and sewing.
My sewing machine is being serviced so I hand sewed a strip of paper th co-ordinate with the card and added it along the top.
The paper is from Imaginisce "Enchanted" paper pad.I love the cute castle and coach paper so used it as my background. I fussy cut a cloud for my hand written sentiment and added it just under the sewing.

Show us your stuff texture challenge

Show us your stuff is to use texture on your layout.
I started by putting texture paste through a mask of cogs .This provided the background. I wanted to do a black and white layout, so I cut the background away from this cute caravan with a knitted cover. The cabled knitting are texture!
Then I matted on horizontal striped card and found a semicircular journal piece.
The title is also black on white, as is the washi tape.I inked the arrow chipboard from memory maze which says "look here.
Finally, I added my homemade flower which is chiffon and lace.
Personally I feel there's lots of texture on this.

Whee! at Sketchabilities challenge

Here's the sketch at Sketchabilities.
I've chosen a bright palette with lots of uplifting items and colours.
I started with the circles yellow paper. This reminded me of the ferris wheel photo I had. I cut it to make it square.
Across the bottom I used 2 strips of washi tape, one gold and one sparkly red.
I followed the sketch concentrating on these 2 colours.
The flowers and loop of twine aren't exactly a circle but I've done the best I can there.
I've used a Glad tab from cling wrap. and my title is WHEE! This are uplifting happy words.
Either side of the title are gold stars and one next to glad.
My hot air balloon tag I made recently using a stamp then epoxy resin dot over the top. Themes seemed to match so I used it as part of my title.
POSTSCRIPT
After going to Sketchabilities to upload, I have missed the closing time by hours. Oh well another photo scrapped!

Recycling to alter a notepad

Here's the wrapping from a kit of MME papers I'm currently using.
I looked at it and thought "there's stuff there I can use."
So, I cut it into its elements

Look at all those goodies!
I've already altered a notebook which I use for my family tree research when visiting a library or cemetery. Here is the altered notebook
The butterflies and green punched shape are from other scraps.

Counterfeit kit -up the spanish steps

Up is one of the requirements in a challenge on Counterfeit kits. Although I've done "Up" layouts  before I've created this specially tonight.
4 years ago we visited Rome. The day we went to the Spanish steps was very hot (around 39 degrees). My aim was to climb the steps, which we did together, but it was an effort in the heat.
At the top was a strategically places gelato van. We succumbed! A shocking photo of me but the only one I have.

I've used lots of layering, including a map paper and a small scrap saying Italia. There are chevrons pointing the way up the steps as well as 2 small inked arrows on UP. I couldn't resist the ice cream and birds from October afternoon.

A cloudy card for Jennifer Grace's blog

Another challenge on Jennifer Grace's blog today is for clouds on a project.
http://jennifergracecreates.com/drifting-off-with-the-clouds/

As I only had 6x6 paper with clouds I've made a card. I thought the sentiment "Imagine" was appropriate.
Again I have used Kaisercraft "Sweet nothings" range as I have a pad of these papers.
