Scrap our stash

I'm combining 2 challenges today.
The first is a sketch on Paper Issues

and the second is to use stars on a layout for scrap our stash, plus the quote

In my Counterfeit Kit there are 2 star papers. I'm using both.
I'm also using vellum as matting.
My 2 photos feature the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING which was number one on my list of things to see in NYC.
I kept the ticket which also appears on my layout, along with a 3D die cut building.
I used an gold transparency overlay saying "cherish" because the Empire State Building holds a special memory.

Dad was there in 1959 and never stopped talking about it. Going there, fulfilled a dream.
The quote on the journaling strips sums that feeling up beautifully.

I also used a border strip which had the art deco style.
As well, I used a banner saying "My favourite place to be.

Scrapshotz

Via Facebook I have found a new Canadian scrapbooking challenge site.

It is named scrapshotz
Here is their sketch

They also had a mood board which I have addressed in a very small way...blues and greens and travels.

One of my ambitions while in Canada during August was to see Niagara Falls. We did see it and went on the Hornblower boat trip right up to both falls. The photo is of us approaching Horseshoe Falls and trying to keep dry.
They are STUNNING!

I tried to capture on my layout the idea of water and us getting wet. The vellum plus the blue pearl flourishes achieve that I hope. It wasn't a layout for flowers.
I also included the ticket saved from the cruise.

Paper Issues This or that challenge.

Choose one item from each pairing and use it on your page.
orange/yellow
mist/paint
flowers/hearts
wash
i/paper strips
triangles/circles
clip/frame
stamps/journaling
chipboard/wood embellishment

I started with a sunray paper from my Counterfeit Kit.
I matted my photo on yellow and dribbled mist over the background.
There is a circular journaling space and a thickly painted chipboard heart.
The letters forming the title are chipboard too.
I added a diamond shaped paper clip to the top of the photo and used chevron washi down the right hand side.

Rochelle spears challenge

Thank You

[Chorus]
If the Sun refused to shine
I would still be loving you
When mountains crumble to the sea
There would still be you and me
Kind woman, I give you my arm
Kind woman, nothing more
Little drops of rain
Whisper of the pain
Tears and love lost in the days gone by
My love is strong
With you, there is no wrong
Together we shall go until we die
My, my, my
Inspiration's what you are to me
Inspiration - look, see
And so, today, my world smiles
Your hand in mine, we walk the miles
Thanks to you it will be done
For you to me are the only one
What I say is
Happiness no longer sad
Happiness, I'm glad
[Chorus]
Ah
Thank you
I'm combining this challenge with Rochelle Spears challenge which is this sketch
http://rochellespears.blogspot.com/  and we are asked to also used leaf paper.

                                                     **************
Having established all that I've chosen 2 photos of the Chrysler Building in New York.
(I'm scrapping my recent holiday)

When the Chrysler Building opened, there were mixed reviews of the building's design, ranging from its being inane and unoriginal to that it was modernist and iconic. Perceptions of the building have slowly evolved into its now being seen as a paragon of the Art Deco architectural style; and in 2007, it was ranked ninth on the List of America's Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects.

I think it is one of the prettiest buildings there and its design is INSPIRATIONAL. (See song!)

Unfortunately I didn't have the letters to write that so shortened it to INSPIRED.
Hopefully, that is close enough.
The only leaf paper I had was the neutral background, plus the plush blue and brown leaves on the vertical strip.

Instead of the upside down tag and twine at the top corner, I used a sticker showing NY skyline including the Chrysler building.
I've used a silver doiley and tag to hark back to the silver building.
There is a combination of colours  on my layout

Stick it down

My next is a double layout for Stick it Down.
I used to be on their design team and haven't visited their blog in a while.

Here's the sketch

I had added to my kit some mulberry paper pieces featuring silver paisleys so I'm cutting around those as my background as well as leaves.

My background papers are 2 pink/bone florals that match from the same series.

Here is page one with the long title

and here is page two with the appropriate hot air balloon journal card.

and here is the stitched double layout.

Mystical November sketch challenge

I'm diving into my New York photos and embellishments to complete this sketch challenge.
This is a pagemaps sketch.
I saved it to Pinterest and am trying to put it on here but it covers the writing.
Go to Mystical if you want to see the sketch.

I've used a recollections paper from my kit ,plus a blue vellum strip and a border from Sassafrass Lass.
They all add to the illusion of water.

All of the other items on here are from my kit. The flair is D-lish scraps, the heart brads I've had for ages. I also managed to use 2 NYC Recollections dimension stickers and the black and white photo is a Darkroom Door photochip
.
Did you notice my hand sewing on the hearts.?
Only a few stitches, but it was on the sketch.

Now here's my layout.

November Counterfeit Kit

Here is this month's counterfeit kit.
It's the October 2018 Citrus Twist Kit, Little Things

There are lots of beautiful pastels there and 2 main colours standing out blues and yellows.

************
Despite it being November here in Australia, we are having solid rain for days on end and the weather is decidedly dull. Apologies for the darkness of the photos.
*************
Papers
I've followed the colour ideas mainly however there are overlapping themes.

I started with the blues. Mine are deeper inn colour on the whole.
The paper on the left resembles the 4th from the left in the kit.

Next, my yellows with a hint of pastel pinks, just like the kit.
There are florals and stars, just like the kit.

I also have 2 window cardstocks, white and blue. I will add other cardstock as needed

I added vellums in co-ordinating colours as I have a big stock of it.
This will be mainly used for matting, it looks bright but will blend in I'm sure.

 Alphas and embellishments.

My alphas are a combination of reds, navy(Ruby Rock-it) and pastels .
I will choose which ones suit each layout or card as I go along.
(sorry for the photo quality)

I treated myself to these cute animal buttons

Lastly, my embellishments.

Lisa requested lots of "bling" so I've added pearls and rhinestones.

Here's the order of the blog hop.
